Auston Matthews dominating for me on NHL18

Auston Matthews had a hat-trick in this game for me against the Colorado Avalanche, including the game winner in overtime to beat them 4-3. He's got 25 goals through 20 games in his third season. He also has 15 assists.

This was a picture of his first goal, a one-timer assisted by William Nylander. Nylander also assisted on the game winner in the fourth period overtime.

Two Boone Jenner goals to get them off and running and 31 Seregei Bobrovsky saves, and the Blue Jackets are finally in the win column after a Saturday night 4-3 win in Colorado.

"We're not going to do it overnight," Dubinsky said. "We played some good hockey tonight. We took some penalties and put ourselves in a little bit of trouble, but we didn't quit. It's an effort we were accustomed to before this year started and it was nice to get back to that.

"You celebrate it. It's been a while since we've had this type of feeling in the dressing room, so we'll celebrate it."

Jarome Iginla scored and had a real nice game, also adding an assist and ending up +1 to be the third star of the game. Ryan Murray added a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets.

Taylor Hall took his bumps and bruises last night, he turned it over a few too many times (five in total), but at the end of the day he got the knockout shot landed. His 17th goal of the year ended up being the game-winner for the Oilers:


Dubnyk had a good night in net, and Eberle (pictured above) got his goal early on to open up scoring. This is the type of win that could start a serious winning streak for Edmonton I feel like. It was a win over a quality opponent and the Oilers are getting their young guys healthy and a lot of regulars and veterans are returning to the lineup.

I could be wrong--easily--but I think it could be a really nice February for the Oilers.

Oilers Rexall comeback vs. Avs falls short

Hall, Cogliano and Hemsky all got in the net after the Avalanche jumped out to a 3-0 deficit last night to tie the game at 3 all and send it into overtime and an eventual shootout before losing 4-3. So the Oil loses last night despite Taylor Hall's 12th career scoring goal. It's still POINTS! And the first points the Oil have tabulated since I've become a fan of the club.

We're getting pretty close on the 2010 Winter Classic. By the way--awesome Pens blog here Igloo Dreams. I might start doing my Oilers game posts on that format.
