Maple Leafs Log Big Comeback on Hockey Day in Canada

[Maple Leafs 4, Senators 3]
[Pension Plan Puppets]

Everyone loves a good comeback story. The Maple Leafs trailed 3-1 in the third period. I had the thought that they were going to rally. That I should live bet them to come back and win. And then they woke up.

Auston Matthews netted his 20th goal of the 2017-2018 season on a little backhander, and cut the deficit.

Today was one of the best days of the year for the sport of hockey. It was Hockey Day in Canada presented by legendary Scotiabank.

Today is one of those days that I wish I were Canadian and grew up in the land up north as a kid loving this game since I was a baby. I wish I knew how to skate and got up early in the morning and played in a pond hockey game with snow covering the ground all around me. Then I could take my kids to a parade and then settle in to watch Sportsnet Canada, a channel I obviously don't even get here in the USA and watch hockey from morning until night.

Instead, I went to the gym and attended a neighborhood birthday party with my kids. Then I did Uber for the first time ever as a driver and made $35.

But on this day, Auston Matthews and the Leafs ended a four-game losing streak in a big way and represented.

Happy Hockey Day in Canada!

Taylor Hall has a flare for the dramatics:

This is my second Hockey Day in Canada as a fan. It ended up a pretty good day. I had a feeling that if the Oilers went into overtime, Taylor Hall was going to find a way to win this one for the boys. Edmonton beats a team that's now 28-22-8 to improve to 22-28-5.

Hockey Weekend in America & Hockey Day in Canada

Glad to see there is another Hockey Weekend Across America (presented by Reebok) and another Hockey Day in Canada on consecutive weekends in February.

One of those two weekends I'll head to my local rink and definitely try to play some hockey. I plan on reading Bob Probert's book again in February "Tough Guy".

February is the best month for Hockey to get the spotlight and really flourish, and it's the best time of year for the sport. I cannot wait to celebrate both days.

Hockey Day in Canada weekend upcoming

Tomorrow is Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. It's a good day to be just relaxing and watching the sport. I found a really good read on what it means to Canadians.

I won't have the entire Saturday to devote to watching hockey, but I am going to try to get started around 1 just before the Edmonton Oilers play and I'll certainly catch all of that game. Then I'll probably have to go get dinner with the wife and see the Justin Bieber movie. But whatever.
